Fills its purpose for sliding window and door security. Our house had windows and doors from the 80s with thin frames and shoddy locks (original and aftermarket type). I wanted something more significant that wasn't a wonky hack. I got some of these bars and cut them down to size to allow secure venting. I plasti-dipped them to stop the rust and put some 550 cord around them in loops to aid in lifting. I know it's overkill, but I find 2x4s tacky in this application and the metal bars fit snugly in the tracks, looking very sleek. Now I know that crooks would certainly have to break the windows or doors to gain entry. I'm sure if your project calls for sturdy, heavy dimensional steel bars, these should work for you too! These aren't stainless so prepare to deal with oxidation somehow.I really enjoy it when I receive metal stock that's virtually ready to be cut, powder coated, or finished. This is it, precut with highly accurate dimensions, all cuts are 90° as to the order, no scaling, no rust preventative ( except mild oil,grease coating) plastic wrapped, amp; ready to be cut.This was cut, shaped, amp; powder coated for a pair of ballscrew bearing end mounts. I used one edge of the precut as my finished edge. Very happy!Steve
Worked perfectly for my project. I needed a flat piece of steel I could use as an anvil for restore a knife sheath where the original "easy rivets" had decayed. I went with post and burr rivets and needed something long, hard and narrow as a stable platform to set the burr and peen the post stub. Worked like a charm. I beveled the edges of the bar so it wouldn't cut the leather, the sheath and bar rested on a bench block. I started with a 2lb baby sledge, later got a rivet peening hammer. I ran the bar into the sheath so I could attach the flap of the belt loop back into the back of the sheath.Good piece of metal stock, delivered quickly to my front door cheaper than my local hardware store. Drilled and bolted easily, using it to reinforce an old car trailer. Recommended if you need a piece of steel.I used this bar to make a set of vice jars.Just as promised, a big chunk of mild steel. Seemed like a competitiveprice with other online suppliers.Dimensionally accurate, slight bend at one end, but expected on something this size. Good deal and got to me quick. No stamping to see who made it.Great Piece!
