Max 58% OFF Movies TV => Genre for Featured Categories => Drama A few days ago, I wrote in a review of Season Two that I was used to Bones episodes that often caused me to reconsider dinner and that I was pleasantly surprised that season two was fairly tame. While moving into season three, I finally found the television show that may work as an appetite suppressant if viewed at the wrong time. While individual perceptions vary, I think the turn towards the grotesque really revs up with the Gormogon Killer story and marches forward through Mummy in the Maze and Boy in the Time Capsule. (I watch episodes out of order depending on my mood in a given day.) That really awesome storytelling is still present and I personally noticed this interaction between the rational, reasoned, side of everything has a logic verses the totally out there world of “oh what human beings do to each other. This season is also the introduction of Sweets who would go on to become a beloved and pivotal part for most of the rest of the show providing psychological profiles of their various killers. But he didn’t start out that way! I think this season was a solid, if not shortened season (writer’s strike?) Even if it did venture into more morbid and grotesque avenues at times. Just don’t watch while eating.I had gotten season 1 amp; debated about getting any other seasons. The show was very well done but the character of Bones was very irritating as she was clueless to everyday life, amp; only spoke amp; related to things in scientific terms. (I realize this was the "joke" of the show but it was really annoying to me.) Friends told me that it got better as the seasons progressed.I got season 3 BEFORE getting season 2, as I didn't think it would make much of a difference (amp; it was cheaper at the time too). My friends were right, Bones isn't anywhere near as annoying as she was in season 1, she's more normal. The only thing with jumping from season 1 to season 3, apparently I missed a LOT in season 2. There are (now) new characters (Booth apparently has a history with one of them) amp; there are many new story lines. Season 3, I find out Bones' father (played by Ryan O'Neal) was arrested in season 2 by Booth. There are other story lines I need to get caught up on as well from season 2.The show is very well done, although the corpses are rather gross amp; disgusting - and sometimes they are way too graphic. There are several extras on this DVD amp; there ARE subtitles for the hearing impaired. Also, this DVD set has a "bonus" of the first 4 episodes from season 4. I have ordered season 2 (so I can see what I missed). Season 3 is MUCH BETTER than season 1.Because season three occurred during the writer's strike, it is cut short at 15 episodes. Because of that, I think, this DVD set also includes the first three episodes of season four. (That seems a strange decision to me, but whatever.) There are less special features, as well - a few extended versions of some episodes and a gag reel is about all. The limitations of this season might be behind the "Totally Decomposed Edition" title of the DVD set. (Hey, at least they're being straight forward about it.)SPOILER ALERTThe limitations of this season don't stop it from bringing just as much story and chemistry as the first two seasons. Another serial killer - Gormogon - is introduced. We meet Angela's gorgeous husband, as well as Dr. Sweets (played by the adorable John Francis Daly.) We also get to see Bones dressed up in her iconic Halloween costume, and her relationship with her father is further explored. Bones and Booth kiss, which is both hilarious and sweet. (Don't worry, they don't get together.) Sadly, Zack leaves the show at the last episode, after he is revealed as Gormogon's apprentice. The first three episodes of season four reveal Angela and Hodgins breaking up for really vague and shallow reasons, and Cesar Milan guest stars as himself in one episode, which wasn't nearly as corny as it sounds.Good season, lots of good stuff to see. The writers strike definitely left an impression on this show (as it did on all shows) but they finished the season admirably well.I never saw the 3rd season in full except for a few episodes shown in reruns on different network channels. Never got to see why the character of Zack left during this season. I wont give the details, but WOW, I never expected THAT. Actually there were quite a few of season 3 episodes I've never seen so I enjoyed "catching up". All my working years I almost always worked the swing shift so I missed a lot of good tv drama that was on between 7pm and 10pm.. Bones is smart, funny and gruesomely awesome.(Sometimes the "remains" are really done well and I have to turn my head, especially if I'm eating dinner-spaghetti in particular,) All the characters make for just great tv viewing and I love the fact that I can buy the different seasons of favorite shows and catch up, AND WITHOUT ANNOYING COMMERCIALS too. Amazons prices are awesome too and I received my copy of Season 3 within 7 days of ordering it.
